… Such as it is, as of Dec. 14, 2018.
Since the camper has been gutted, what electrical (lights, fan, furnace blower) wiring was damaged, missing or suspect, I decided that it was all to be replaced. That included:
- replacing the power converter (shore power to 12VDC) with an upgraded, higher amperage unit.
- Replacing all branch wiring to lighting etc.
- Adding a volt/ammeter in series with the battery to allow monitoring its state.
- Maybe adding an inverter to allow some minor amount ot 120VAC capacity being sourced from the batter(ies)
- Adding new batteries, as the camper came to us with none.
- Add new primary battery wiring (battery to converter).
- Adding proper fusing
At this point, the following is known or decided:
- Converter will be a Progressive Dynamics model PD4575 power center, with built in fusing.
- Primary wiring (running from battery box to power center) will be #4 AWG
- volt/Ammeter will be of the shunt type, with a 100A shunt.
- Batteries will be two 6V golf cart type deep cycle wired in series.
- Branch wiring will be #14 AWG stranded
